Mind::Week 6 (Summer11)

Okay, it’s the 6th and final week of Summer School 2011. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel Pink. Now, we’re switching gears, and trying to keep our minds active year round. You have one assignment this week.

Assignment #1

Subscribe to some blogs.

It’s important that we are regularly engaging our minds. Consistently reading some blogs can help out. There are tons out there. I currently subscribe to about 10 blogs. Yes, there are days where I don’t get around to reading all of them, but I often find that when I take the time to read them, my mind is challenged and my work ethic is stronger. Pick 2 to 3 and find a way to read them–personally, I prefer an RSS subscription through my mail program, but there are other methods.

You could pick my blog and read that, again I try to normally write 2-3 entries a week with a video entry from time to time. Other blogs that I thoroughly enjoy right now (you may have seen several of these as additional posts in Friday Finish). Here are some of my favorite blog writers right now. Search there names and you can find their blogs, or check out some of my past Friday finishes. Admittedly, they are geared a bit more towards business or running your own business, but several of their entries translate well. Find someone in your own field or desired field and read them.

Scott Ginsberg, Seth Godin, Michael Josephson, Avish Parashar, Russ Perry, Daniel Pink, Bob Sutton

That’s it. Pick up 2-3 blogs and start reading. It should only take you 2-3 minutes a day to read their entries and even less depending on how often they write. Great ideas. Great motivation. Great insight. Available to you for free from some great minds.

Do it.
