Waking Up

So I’ve been really sleepy over the past few days. I once again had a wonderful time at the Sundance Film Festival, but as great as that experience is each year, it drains me of energy.

Yesterday, I worked out with my personal trainer (trying to lose weight before the wedding), and I could just feel myself dragging. I came home and napped for a few hours. I went to bed early and slept in.

So I knew I had enough sleep today, but I still had trouble “waking up.”

I recognized this familiar lazy feeling.

I hate it.

Do you have it? That sense that it’s easier to procrastinate or to just take one more nap before you take on that important task? That sense that things will be easier after a bit more rest?

I hate it.

Yes, there are times where we need rest and recovery. I definitely needed some time after Sundance, but now I know I need to wake up.

There are important things to do.

So go ahead, take one more yawn, stretch one more time, and get to work.
