What You Display

So I’m grocery shopping last night to get some vegetables for a salad, and I stumble upon this little sign. That’s right. It’s 59 cents a pound with the card, or 0 cents a pound without the card. Unfortunately, I used the card to get discounts on other items, and did not end up getting an unlimited amount of free carrots.

Obviously the sign is a typo. Someone neglected to check the final document, and so my local grocery store is currently advertising free carrots. It’s display doesn’t add up to what it is truly able to offer.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m WAY guilty of typos. My fiancé gets frustrated with many of my blog entries and their numerous grammatical errors.

I imagine the grocery store employee just had a similar moment with a minor mistake.

But it does make me think about the bigger question:

Are we displaying the best version of ourselves? Can we also stand up to that scrutiny? Have we “checked the work” in our lives, or are we headed out to our day with far too many “typos”?

Yeah, I know I’m stretching a bit here to make the connection, but the questions are still important. Are you advertising one version of yourself that you can’t quite back up? If so, what needs to change?
